Back to the roots – back to organic food!

As the name of the restaurant explains, the concept of Gnezdo is serving organic food and beverages. The ingredients are strictly chosen from small, organic farms around Serbia.

The owners, a group of friends, who want to remember people, that healthy food doesn’t have to be boring. So, the whole idea, which stands behind the concept, is “healthy mixed with a modern lifestyle”, which got rare in Serbia.

Maybe one can pass Gnezdo without even noticing it, because it is located on the second floor of a very old building next to Brankow’s Bridge and the Sava river. But let the bird-graffities guide you into the restaurant. Why birds? Because gnezdo means nest in Serbian.

Even the nest is in the urban part of the town (Savamala), the atmosphere inside is quite calm and not crowded. The interior is cozy and rustic, which reminds me on the countryside. The menu is changing every week, which means that the ingredients are seasonal. Vegetarians and vegans won’t stay hungry, because the menu offers also vegan and vegetarian dishes.

Next to delicious homemade ice teas and wine from Portugal, they serve the most delicious gluten free desserts. The prices are high for Serbian standards, but it is definitely  worth the quality.

So, if you are searching for a healthy restaurant with a beautiful view, an intimate ambience and lovely staff, voilà!

I recommend you to go there on weekends during lunch time, because Gnezdo organizes live Jazz and Soul music.
