Burek is a family of delicious and mouth watering baked fillled pastries made of a thin flaky dough known as phyllo filled with meat, if you want it the traditional way that is. In this day and age, there is lots of different variations of burek. You can choose between cheese, mushrooms, a range of cabbages, ham and cheese and chicken.
People around the Balkans normally have it for breakfast. The good thing is though, that it gets you to feel full for at least a couple of hours. If you haven’t tried burek yet or you feel like eating it again, Bakery Trpković is the perfect address for it. This bakery has a long lasting tradition. It has existed for more than a hundred years.
If you were wondering as to why I recommend it, The food is always fresh and high quality. The people, who work there are lovely, although they seem to be rushed off their feet. When you enter their premises, they welcome you with a warm hearted „Good morning, my dear neighbour’, which makes a really nice family atmosphere. Last but not least, the Burek tastes ‘ like at grandmother’s’.
You can choose between take away or eat at the bakery, which I prefer. The bakery is small in its size but because of its bistro tables there is enough space for everyone. If you want to eat burek in a traditional way, don’t forget to order a little bottle of yoghurt.
Bakery Trpković exists in three different locations: Zvezdara, Dušanovac and Slavija.
