Few weeks ago I attended a ceramic group workshop given by Bojana Brkić, the owner, designer and ceramicist of re:art:concept. The result? A creative afternoon with a bunch of lovely people and two ceramic pieces created by ‘truly yours’.

Re:art is a shop and studio offering the finest hand-crafted ceramics. Each piece is made of fine French porcelain and hand-painted with real gold. Besides beautiful tableware, Re:art offers hand-poured candles, home decoration and custom-made pieces for special occasions, such as weddings and corporate events. Located in Skadarlija, the Bohemian borough of Belgrade, Re:art has recently started offering introductory  ceramic workshops for beginners which provide lots of fun

During this workshop lovely Bojana and her colleague will take you through some simple ceramic techniques by hand to create a few pieces to use in your own home, such as plates and bowls. First, you will be introduced to the basic techniques of pinching, rolling, shaping and cutting clay in order to create functional forms. After these somewhat energized exercises, you will have some time to practice and play with the clay. Once you reach your preferred shape, you can experiment with various techniques to achieve texture and surface decoration.

The second part of the workshop is the painting. In this stage , in which you will lose track of time and let your creative imagination run free. Bring ideas of your own or get inspired by the feminine and elegant re:art atmosphere. The workshop includes the use of clay, tools, decorating materials, colours and firing. After the workshop your pieces will be heated with a coat of clear see- through glaze on top so that you can come and pick them up in a few days at the shop.

Come and spend a lovely afternoon making something very personal and unique sipping a glass of wine or a a cup of coffee. Workshop sessions are held twice a month and last up to two hours. My group got into a habit of staying there much longer though. There is also an option for private workshops for groups or ceramic parties for the young ones.

Costs: 2.000 RSD per session (2h),  included: clay, tools, materials for decorating, colours, firing and two pieces to take home.
